We in Australia take so much for granted: running water and sewerage to our homes.

Hosted by Rotary clubs in Vientiane and Chiangmai, Australian Rotary clubs (5 in Sydney and 6 in Western Australia) have undertaken to provide water and toilets in Phoukood District, in Xiengkhouang Province of Lao. Phonsavan is the capital and Rotary has a volunteer in-country Manager located there for liaison with the Lao Government and villages, to manage purchasing of materials, employment of labour, financial control and all administrative matters including submitting operational and financial reports.

So far US$81,000 has been raised. This money will be used in the dry season 2014-15 for preparatory works for some villages,  to provide water pipelines from water sources to concrete tanks. WE NEED MORE donations to extend the project to five more villages.

The Laos Water Project is sponsored by Rotary Australia World Community Service Ltd. (RAWCS) and donations are directed through Rotary Australia Overseas Aid Fund which is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission. More information is on the RAWCS website
